Greg Jarrett

Greg Jarrett is immersed in motorcycling and spent almost 10 years as a full-time Police motorcyclist. Having previously been an Observer and Senior Observer for Plymouth Advanced Motorcyclists, he is now an IAM Examiner and is a DSA registered post test motorcycle instructor. As a member of the Peninsular Motorcycle Forum he has been involved in initiatives both regionally and nationally to better understand why motorcycles are involved in collisions.

Greg was heavily involved in the delivery of Devon and Cornwall Police’s BikeSafe scheme and is proud of the achievements of the Devon and Cornwall Police Motorcycle Wing in helping to reduce motorcycle casualties whilst he was their Sergeant. He appeared prominently in the widely screened documentary series Crash Scene Investigators in his role as a Senior Investigating Officer.

He has toured in the U.K. and in Europe as far as Romania and is particularly fond of camping from his motorcycle. He runs a BMW R1200 GS Adventure for this reason and rates this particular bike for its sheer versatility.

His UK tours include the West Coast of Scotland, and Wales, Northumbria and the North East of England. European trips include Luxembourg, taking in the Moselle Valley and the Black Forest, and France, via Santander, the Pyrenees and Roscoff.

Other memorable trips include the First World War Battlefields of Ypres and the Somme – “a trip made for the GS and a truly fascinating area to see, full of history and very moving.”

Greg said, “I really believe that training gives you opportunities to get the very best out of your bike and the roads you choose to ride. We are lucky in this part of the country in that we can ride in every month of the year on some really fabulous roads.”
